Certification is often the biggest barrier for new importers. Here is a quick reference for the most common ones.
US Market
- FCC — required for any electronic product with wireless or radio function.
- ETL / UL — safety certification for electrical appliances. Retailers like Amazon, Home Depot and Costco often require it.
- FDA — for products that touch food, like storage boxes.
EU Market
- CE — mandatory for most electrical products sold in the EU.
- RoHS — restricts hazardous substances in electronics.
- REACH — chemical safety regulation, especially for textiles and plastics.
- UKCA — the UK version of CE, required for Great Britain.
Tips for importers
- Always ask the factory for a copy of the test report, not just the certificate.
- Check that the certificate is issued for the exact model you are buying.
- For Amazon FBA, ETL and FCC are usually required at listing.
All our product lines come with CE, RoHS and FCC by default, and we arrange ETL, UKCA, REACH and LFGB testing for specific markets on request.
